Leicester City boss Claudio Ranieri has revealed why Jamie Vardy snubbed a move to the Emirates.
The striker was subject of a £20m bid from Arsenal but he opted against a move to the Emirates to sign a new contract at Leicester, to the delight of Leicester City fans and it’s players.
The Foxes boss Claudio Ranieri has now revealed the player chose to stay at Leicester because the club is like a family to him.
“Maybe it is because he started from the bottom and now we are his family,” Ranieri is quoted by the Express.
“It is the first time in the Champions League too and he wants to stay together.”
The Leicester boss added: “I am very happy.
“He enjoys it a lot here – he is a king and he is happy.
“You imagine, he came from a little team and came right to the top, and then a big team wants you but you stay – that is unbelievable.
“It is fantastic because Jamie is one of our points of reference.
“Of course, all his team-mates are happy and he gave us a lot of energy to have another good season.”
Arsenal are still working on a deal to bring in a striker and are being linked with a move for Gonzalo Higuain and Alexandre Lacazette.
