Wenger has admitted that he is open to making new signings in January after seeing his squad decimated by injuries this season
Reports indicate that Arsenal have identified FC Porto defensive midfielder as their prime transfer target in the January transfer window, according to reports.
The Gunners are keen on signing a defensive midfielder in this January transfer window after being linked to the likes of Sporting Lisbon’s William Carvalho, Southampton’s Victor Wanyama and Bayer Leverkusen defensive stall wart Lars Bender in and Ruben Neves of FC Porto in recent times.
But latest reports according to Portuguese sports newspaper O Jogo, indicates that the Gunners are planning a swoop for Porto’s Danilo in the January transfer window.
The 24 year old recently joined the Portuguese giants from Maritimo; a club he featured for two seasons before making the upgrade move to Porto.
He has established himself as an integral member of this Porto side this season and has caught the eyes of Arsenal who are in desperate need of a defensive midfield cover after losing Francis Coquelin to long term injury while Aaron Ramsey is not sure to finish the season without picking up an injury.
Danilo would give Arsenal title charge a big boost if he decides to join the team as he represents a sound investment judging from his age and he is not even yet in his peak playing part of his career.
