Arsenal vs Stoke City. 12 September 2015. Emirates Stadium.
Stoke City will take a short trip to the capital this Saturday to take north London club Arsenal for their fifth Premier League match of the 2015-2016 season.
Mark Hughes has plenty to ponder ahead of the visit to the Emirates, with Charlie Adam and Ibrahim Afellay both suspended, while Glen Johnson (groin) and Mame Biram Diouf (hamstring) are slight doubts.
If Diouf fails to recover in time, Joselu could be handed his first league start for the Potters, with Peter Crouch the other option.
Marko Arnautovic and Xherdan Shaqiri look sure starters in the three advanced midfield positions in Hughes’ preferred 4-2-3-1 formation, with Stephen Ireland perhaps getting the nod in the other starting berth.
Jon Walters looks to be the main alternative option, with Bojan still lacking some match fitness.
Glenn Whelan and Marco van Ginkel are expected to continue in the double-pivot, with Steve Sidwell providing back-up.
If Johnson is ruled out, Phil Bardsley could step in at right-back, with Marc Muniesa, Geoff Cameron and Erik Pieters expected to make up the rest of the back four ahead of Jack Butland.
Ryan Shawcross and Peter Odemwingie are still out.
Having said this, here is how I expect Hughes to line-up his side against the Gunners.
