Slaven Bilic will be able to call upon Cheikhou Kouyate for the home encounter against Arsenal, with the midfielder free to play after successfully appealing his sending off against Crystal Palace.
He is set to continue alongside Mark Noble at the base of midfield in Bilic’s favoured 4-2-3-1 formation then, with Pedro Obiang and Alex Song providing alternative options.
James Tomkins returned to the substitutes bench last weekend following injury, and after a full week’s training, could be ready to return at right-back, allowing Michail Antonio to start on the right of the three advanced midfield positions.
Dimitri Payet and Manuel Lanzini look certain to claim the other two spots, with Diafra Sakho perhaps retaining his starting berth as the lone striker. Emmanuel Emenike, Andy Carroll, Enner Valencia and Victor Moses could all come into contention, though, particularly if Antonio starts at right-back.
Winston Reid and Angelo Ogbonna look set to continue in central defence, with Aaron Cresswell at left-back for the Hammers. Sam Byram (knock) and James Collins are expected to train on Friday, but the match against Arsenal is expected to come “too early” for the pair.
