Arsenal are reportedly closing in on a move for Barcelona winger Lionel Messi, according to reports.
Odds on the Argentine moving to the Emirates have been drastically slashed since the beginning of the week.
The Barcelona winger have been linked with a move to the Premier league and it is believed that the 28 year old will favour a move to the Emirates.
Bookmakers Ladbrokers have slashed the odds of Messi joining the gunners at some point of his career to 5/1. Earlier this week you could find the odd at 16/1 but the news of Messi favouring a move to Chelsea have seen the odds slashed.
Messi is currently entangled in a legal war with the Spanish tax authorities over tax fraud allegations, the Argentine is reportedly frustrated in spain and is now considering moving to England.
Messi’s huge salary is seen as a stumbling block to his Arsenal move but Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea are also keen on the Argentine forward.
The Argentine international has broken many records and have set new ones in La Liga and World football in general, he became the current highest goal scorer in the Spanish Classico when he surpassed Alfredo di Stefano’s 18 classico goals.
