Arsenal’s search for a new manager is over after the club announced the signing of Unai Emery, who recently secured the treble of Ligue 1, Coupe de France and the Coupe de la Ligue with French giants Paris Saint-Germain.
The 46-year-old manager succeeds French boss Arsene Wenger, who left after 22 years in charge of the Gunners.
According to The Mirror, the former Valencia boss sealed a four year deal worth £24million (€27million) to join the north Londoners.
Emery is a decorated coach, who has won big prizes and Arsenal fans will be hoping that he will solve the issues and win major trophies with the club.
As mentioned above, at PSG, Emery won every major domestic title during his two year stint but unfortunately, he failed to win the Champions League.
Wenger never managed to win a European trophy. Under his management, Arsenal lost the UEFA Cup final and the Champions League final. On the other hand, prior to moving to France, Emery helped Sevilla win three Europa League titles in a row.
Arsenal chief executive, Ivan Gazidis stated that the Spaniard is the ideal man to take the club forward
“Unai has an outstanding track record of success throughout his career, has developed some of the best young talent in Europe and plays an exciting, progressive style of football that fits Arsenal perfectly. His hard-working and passionate approach and his sense of values on and off the pitch make him the ideal person to take us forward”
