Reports making the round claims Arsenal have been handed a massive boost in finally signing Thomas Lemar with report suggesting he has rejected a new contract at Monaco.

The 22-year-old has been keen to move to the Premier League over the last two transfer windows, but the French champions opted not to sell him.

Monaco were hoping to tie the French international down with a new long-term deal with a significant pay hike.

But Lemar has rebuffed the offer paving the way for a big money move to the Premier League at the end of the season.

The midfielder is contracted to Monaco until the summer of 2020, but his decision to turn down fresh terms could force the French club to cash in.

Lemar agreed a deal with Arsenal before the start of the season, but he was not allowed to join the Monaco summer exodus which saw Kylian Mbappe, Benjamin Mendy, Bernardo Silva and Tiemoue Bakayoko all leave.

Lemar has been sidelined for two weeks with a thigh injury and his absence sparked speculation he may have been leaving Ligue 1 last month.

But Monaco vice president Vadim Vasilyev was clear that one of their key players would not leave in January.

He told RMC: “He will stay at Monaco until the end of the season 100 per cent.

“If Liverpool or Arsenal come with a big offer before the end of the market? This is not relevant.
