Arsenal boss Unai Emery has admitted that he will have a huge task finding a suitable replacement for departing Aaron Ramsey.
Just a few months into the 2018/19 Premier League season, Arsenal made a shock announcement that the club will not be renewing its contract deal with Welshman Ramsey.
This news broke the internet, with several media outlet claiming the reason behind the contract breakdown, is due to Arsenal’s refusal to offer the 28-year old a deal in excess of £200,000-a-week as requested by his representative during negotiations.
Other pundits and bookmakers such as uk registered online casino claim the Gunners decided to pull out of negotiations as the Club’s way of putting their foot down against players holding the club to ransom for massive paychecks while using the tactics of running down their contract.
Among the numerous reported reasons for the breakdown in negotiations, one thing remains clear at this point, and it is the fact that Arsenal have decided to cut down on their wage bill, and perhaps trying to avoid another Mesut Ozil bumper contract mess.
Having said this, Arsenal fans and supporters have had to live through the pain of sending forth one of their beloved and hardworking players in the middle of the park and are keen to see who will replace him in that midfield box-to-box position.
This has lead Arsenal to be linked with a number of established midfielders, with several bookmakers and online slots backing the Gunners to splash the cash to bring in a quality replacement for Ramsey this summer, rather than replacing him with a youngster from the Arsenal academy.
Boss Unai Emery has been handed this burden, but the Spanish tactician has thrown reporters off guard on several occasions about signing a replacement for Ramsey. In one case, Emery clearly said he would look into the Arsenal academy to bring players through. And rightly so, given the emergence of a fresh and talented new crop of players coming through the ranks.
We take a look at a few Arsenal academy youngsters who could replace Ramsey this summer:
If there’s any player who looks poised to perfectly replicate the Ramsey story at Arsenal at the moment, it would be Willock.
Just as Ramsey, the 19 year old is a Rolls Royce of a player and moves with the ball at his feet while going past opponents. He also has a knack for goals, which is one of Ramsey’s major strengths.
Given his young age and guidance and willingness of Emery to blood in young players into the first team, Willock is surely on the right part to greatness at Arsenal and could quickly fill in the void left by Ramsey.
Should Unai Emery have no money to spend on a replacement for Ramsey, and is told to look inward for an immediate replacement, my instant decision would be 21-year old Ainsley.
Yes, Ainsley! Why? Because of his work rate, versatility and capabilities of doing the job going forward and also tracking back to help out in defence.
AMN also has a good number of first team experiences and will slot in nicely in midfield to run up and down the pitch, breaking up play and equally linking up play as he has done several times this season.
Smith-Rowe is another candidate that I would personally tip to replace Ramsey.
Fresh from the academy and hungry for action, the 18-year-old’s exploits in the early stages of the Europa League campaign is surely worth dwelling upon.
Just as Willock, Emile Smith-Rowe possesses all the ingredients to replace Ramsey in the middle of the park. The youngster can also play anywhere upfront and has been used by Emery in the right wing, number 10, and number 8 positions.
