Arsene Wenger is reportedly keen on bolstering his side in the January transfer window for the second half of the 2015/2016 season.
Rangers are close to extending the loan deal of Arsenal youngster Gideon Zelalem, the Scottish club boss confirmed.
Zelalem joined the Scottish club on loan last summer in a short term deal and the club is now keen to extend the midfielder’s loan until the end of the current campaign.
Rangers coach Mark Warburton has confirmed his club are on the verge of reaching an agreement with Arsenal to extend the player’s loan deal.
“We’re almost there with Gedion and hopefully he’ll be with us for the rest of the season.
“I thought he was tremendous against St Mirren last Saturday, he’s working hard and is in good shape.”
Zelalem has notched up five assists in ten league games for Rangers this term and the United States international is keen to remain in Scotland until the end of the current campaign.
Zelalem played for Germany youth team up to the under 17 level but since then decided to don the jersey of the United States and has featured for the United States U20 and U23 teams.
Zelalem is yet to make his debut for Arsenal. The midfielder wants to remain in Scotland and get first team experiences at Rangers before returning to Arsenal.
