Arsene Wenger is reportedly keen on bolstering his side in the January transfer window for the second half of the 2015/2016 season.
Arsenal are close to signing Russia striker Aleksandr Kokorin, according to the Metro.
The Metro claims the Gunners have opened talks with Dynamo Moscow over a January move for the 24 year old.
Former Everton, Manchester United and Southampton star Andrei Kanchelskis said, “The Russian championship is very weak and Aleksandr can progress at Arsenal.
“Arsenal are the best option for Aleksandr’s career. If he is prepared to work a lot, he will not have any problems.”
Arsene Wenger is reportedly in search for a striker to provide back up and competition for Olivier Giroud but the French boss recently ruled out a move for a top striker like Karim Benzema as he is comfortable with Olivier Giroud as his first choice striker.
The report claims Arsenal could sign Kokorin for as low as £4.5million. It is believed that the Gunners have also agreed personal terms with the player.
The player’s contract at Dynamo Kiev expires next seaon and the Gunners could get him at the end of the season for free but it is thought that Arsene Wenger is looking to strengthen his squad in the winter transfer window in order to keep up with his rivals in the title race.
