Midfielder Torreira was forced to limp off in the 57th minute of last night’s Europa League romp against Vorskla Poltava after suffering a blow to the knee.
Emery said: “Each match we play, I am responsible for the group and for Torreira also, today I think it is better [for Lucas] to leave the match.
“I hope that tomorrow and Saturday, he will be okay for Sunday.”
Torreira – a £26.5m summer capture from Sampdoria – was starting his first match for Arsenal having impressed off the bench in all five Premier League fixtures.
He caught the eye as the Gunners kicked off their Europa League campaign with a win, and Emery is pleased with his development.
“Well, Lucas is playing with his progress on the team and on our ideas, our performance with a passion and with a performance,” Emery said.
“Each minute he is playing, he is doing very well.”
Arsenal legend Martin Keown was left purring by Torreira’s display in the engine room.
“He’s very tenacious and he looks for a pass,” Keown said on BT Sport.
“You have to be able to do this in the Premier League, certainly in an Arsenal team.”
He added: “Arsenal need a player like that, to show that level of commitment and boss that midfield.”
Arsenal’s success against Vorskla Poltava made it four wins on the spin for Emery.
