Arsenal may abandon their pursuit of Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy, according to reports.
The Gunners’ interest in the 29 year old striker is well known with the club following up their interest with an official bid which triggered the player’s release clause.
However, the striker is yet to give the “yes” word to Arsenal as he is still contemplating between staying at the King Power Stadium and moving to the Emirates.
It was reported that the player would make a decision on his future when he finishes his duty with the England national team at the Euro 2016 but there is a new twist in the race for the striker which suggests the Gunners could pull out of the deal.
According to respected Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio via Arsenalstation.com, Vardy’s release clause has risen from £20m to £30m.
The Journalist claims the player’s £20m release clause was only active until June 3rd and has now risen to £30m.
The report also added that Wenger is reluctant to pay the £30m release clause and that was the reason he was eager to sign the player before the said June 3rd. It is believed the French manager is now considering pulling out of the deal although a final decision is yet to be taken.
However, we doubt if the Gunners would be forced to pay the new release clause as we triggered the clause before the said increase and it was the player’s choice to delay a decision on his future.
Vardy scored 24 league goals for Leicester last season as he helped the Foxes to their first ever Premier League title in the club’s history
