The wait is all over as Arsenal finally have had a bid for a striker accepted. Both Gunners senior teams had been scouring the market for a top forward to bolster their respective squads. It is however the Arsenal Ladies who have struck a deal.
Pedro Martinez side have had their bid for Nigerian superstar Asisat Oshoala accepted by rivals Liverpool after activating her release clause. The news was confirmed on the official twitter account of the Liverpool ladies, via Nigeria publication, soccernet “Liverpool ladies have reluctantly accepted a bid from Arsenal ladies for Asisat Oshoala”
Oshoala is now scheduled to hold talks with the Gunners but the move is still subject to the 21-year-old receiving a work permit for the 2016 campaign.
The Super Falcons’ forward joined the Reds only a year ago having completed her move from Nigeria Women Premier League’s outfit Rivers Angels in January 2015.
The Nigerian international scored three goals in 12 league outings in an injury disrupted 2015 WSL season for the Reds.
Martinez seems to have the squad in perfect shape, following up the acquisition of Fara Williams with this deal for the Women’s player of the year.
In May 2015, 21-year-old Oshala beat Spain’s Veronica Boquete, German Nadine Kessler, Scot Kim Little and Brazilian Marta to become the first player to win BBC Women’s Footballer of the Year.
