Arsene Wenger has revealed Olivier Giroud will lead the line for the Gunners next season, although he’ll he will sign another striker to compete with him, according to the Daily Express.
This reports have lead many to believe the exit rumours of Theo Walcott is close to becoming a reality.
The Gunners have been heavily linked with signing a top striker this summer, the likes of Gonzalo Higuain, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Karim Benzema have been linked with a move to the Emirates.
It is expected that should those calibre of strikers arrive at the club this season, they are would slot into the starting xi immediately.
Surprisingly, Wenger is adamant that Olivier Giroud will continue to lead the line next season in the absence of Danny Welbeck. However, the French man insisted he will sign a striker to compete with Giroud next season while stressing that the French man is central to his plans.
When questioned if Giroud would be Arsenal’s first choice striker next season, the French man answered: “Yes”.
“I believe that Danny Welbeck being out now for a long, long time we will be on the road to look for one more striker.
“After that it’s down to compete. Olivier has strong and weak moments so we have to deal with that.
“He is a bit unbelievable – he is in cycles. He scores in spells and then sometimes he scores less.”
