Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is set to raid Arsenal this summer, according to reports.
The Portuguese was confirmed as Manchester United’s boss last week and he has drafted out plans to rebuild his squad in this summer transfer window.
According to the Express, Mourinho will attempt to resign Danny Welbeck from Arsenal this summer.
The report sites bookmakers Ladbrokes as its source claiming the bookmakers slashed the odd of Welbeck returning to Old Trafford from 8/1 to 3/1.
Welbeck is a product of the Red Devils youth academy and was touted to become a big striker for the club during Ferguson’s era. However, Louis Van Gaal sanctioned the sale of the forward to Arsenal a move which didn’t go down well with some of the United fans.
Should United be serious about signing Welbeck, their attempt is going to be complicated by the fact that the player is currently recovering from a knee injury which has ruled him out for nine months, coupled with Wenger’s reluctance to do business with a league rival.
Welbeck played a crucial role for Arsenal in the second half of last season and Wenger knows too well not to provide his rivals with such a player.
