Arsenal could let Alexis Sanchez leave the Emirates in the next transfer window, according to reports.
The Chilean’s contract expires at the end of next season and he has so far rejected attempts to extend his current deal.
He now looks set to leave the Emirates with the likes of PSG, Juventus and AC Milan circling around him.
According to Don Balon via the Express, Arsenal have begun to admit that Sanchez is likely to leave this summer and could now use him to negotiate a stunning transfer involving Alvaro Morata.
The report claims Arsenal are still very much interested in signing Morata and could include Sanchez in a swap deal to bring the 24 year old striker to the Emirates.
Morata is regarded as Spain’s future no 9 but has struggled to break into Madrid’s first team this season. He finds himself behind Karim Benzema and could be open to a move to a big club like Arsenal where he has a better chance of playing regularly.
Alexis contract renewal saga is beginning to worry Gooners as the effect of losing our best player will be too hard to take.
Wenger has always insisted that our priority remains to tie the Chilean down to a new contract and this report suggesting we will use him as a bargaining chip will not go down well with many of us.
I will not want to take this report seriously until it becomes official that Sanchez won’t be signing a new deal with us but for now, our priority remains tying him down to a new contract.
