With the huge number of Arsenal stars out due to one injury concern or the other, Arsene Wenger will be looking to re-enforce his side in January for the second half of the season.
Arsenal have moved closer to signing Croatian teenage midfield sensation, Nikola Vlasic according to Express.
The 17-year old has been dubbed as the ‘next Luka Modric’ and has been a first team player at Croatian top flight club, Hadjuk Split since he was 16. A regular with the Under-18s, Vlasic is one of Croatia’s hottest prospects tipped for a big landing in one of Europe’s top clubs, and Wenger wants it to be at Arsenal that he rests his tentacles.
With the youngster’s contract to run out in the summer of 2016, Vlasic certainly has many suitors aleady flocking around as reports have it that Inter Milan are interested in him too. A right-footed creative midfielder, Vlasic’s strong points are in his creativity and first touch, with intelligent distribution and pristine control of the ball at his feet.
Vlasic can be compared to Arsenal academy star, Dan Crowley. Both players love to drift from the center to the wide positions, creating space for teammates to make forward runs to slip them through on goal. While the current generation in the first team remains the immediate concern, the need to build the teams coming through is also important for the club.
The Croats have produced some fine midfielders recently, Real Madrid’s Luka Modric and Barcelona’s newboy Ivan Rakitic the best of the current generation. Vlasic is one of a couple of young talents that have been linked to Arsenal, as has Dinamo Zagreb’s Marcelo Brozovic.
The 21-year old was in Croatia’s World Cup squad in Brasil and remains on our radar for a possible move in the winter. He has been watched by Arsenal’s top officials in action this season, during the Dinamo derby between D. Zagreb and Hajduk Split in September.
Wenger has been on the lookout for bright young talents, and though it’s been more of an English revolution, he remains keen to insure the club’s future with a right mix of good potential foreign nationals.
