Wenger has admitted he is interested in signing Monaco forward Kylian Mbappe.
The young striker has been heavily linked with Arsenal this summer, with reports claiming he is Wenger’s top target.
Reports in Frans had claimed Wenger has become obsessed with signing his young compatriot and is desperate for Arsenal to beat the likes of Real Madrid to his services.
And speaking in his first press conference of our preseason tour in Australia, Wenger admitted to liking Mbappe and suggested there is no club who wouldn’t be interested in signing the striker.
“Nobody can say they are not interested in a player of that calibre, because he has such immense quality at 18 years of age. All the clubs are open and interested in him,” Wenger said, as quoted by The Daily Cannon.
“He’s a player who, when he gets up in the morning, can choose where he wants to go. There are not many players with that kind of luck, because he’s only 18 years of age and has the whole of Europe rolling out a red carpet for him.
This isn’t the first time that Wenger is publicly revealing his interest in Mbappe, having spoke glowingly about the striker last season.
However, signing him will be a difficult task to pull off because as many as four top clubs are prepared to break the world record transfer fee to sign him.
Should we believe the media, Arsenal have already had a £87m bid rejected for him, meaning it will take a lot more than that to sign him and considering the amount of interest in his services, his price tag will only continue to rise.
