Arsene Wenger has confirmed reports that German winger Serge Gnabry is set for a second loan spell this season. The youngster was originally sent on a season long loan to fellow Premier League side West Bromwich Albion in the summer, but had to be recalled to the Emirates in January after struggling for first team action with the Baggies making just one Premier League appearance, as a substitute which came as far back as August.
The youngster’s struggles for game time at the Hawthorns came as no surprise with the pacey Germany under 21 international at odds with the overly physical approach applied by Baggies boss Tony Pulis.
Wenger speaking to the media after the 2-1 victory over Burnley in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Saturday revealed Gnabry currently at the Emirates would head out again in a bid for much needed regular first team action. Asked if the Gnabry could be heading out of the Emirates again, “Yes,” Wenger replied. “I am tempted to let him go somewhere [on loan], and do with him what I did with [Francis] Coquelin,” he added.
Following his torrid time at West Brom, Premier League side’s interest in the youngster is expectedly low as he may have to do with a spell in the Championship or better still a move abroad.
