Arsene Wenger is reportedly keen on bolstering his side in the January transfer window for the second half of the 2015/2016 season.
Wenger has cooled rumors linking his club with a move for Southampton midfielder Vincent Wanyama, according to reports.
The Mirror reported that the Gunners’ boss has made the Southampton midfielder his priority signing in the winter transfer window as the North London club look to find a replacement for the injured Francis Coquelin.
However, Wenger has dismissed reports linking him to the Kenyan international although he confirmed that he admire the player. Speaking at the Gunners pre-match conference, Wenger said:
“I rate the player, but we are not on the case,” he told a news conference.
“We will be out there and seeing what we can do, but we have the whole of December to go and we are in a strong position in the Premier League
“But we are short, and it is important that we don’t lose any more players. On one side, people want you to have seven strikers, on the other side when you rest one they ask you why you are not playing him.”
The Gunners have lost Francis Coquelin to a long term injury and Arsene Wenger is looking to strengthen his squad for the second half of the season.
The Gunners boss has however confirmed that he would bring in new players in January should there be available players that will improve his squad.
