Arsene Wenger has revealed his plans for the summer transfer window.

The French man who failed to guide Arsenal to the Champions League for the first time in 21 years signed a new two year deal last week and promised to strengthen his squad this summer to get the club back to the apex of English football.

It’s been reported that he is looking to carry out a major overhaul of our squad but Wenger has denied those claims insisting he is only going to make one or two tweaks to the current squad,

Wenger says he is only going to sign a maximum of three players this summer before adding that we can’t afford to compete with the likes of Manchester City who are expected to sign a lot of new faces.

‘Between a maximum of two or three,’ he told BeIN sports when asked how many signings he was likely to make.

‘We cannot spend as much as many other clubs because some clubs have external resources that allow them to be basically unlimited.

‘We can spend money because we have managed well the club. Lets not forget the amount of money spent is not a guarantee of success.

‘We have to be clear what we understand as a big signing. Is Holding a big signing for you or not.

‘When you buy a player for £40m, everybody will have at the start a positive judgment. When you buy him for £2m, he cant be good

‘That means a big signing is not necessarily linked with the amount of money spent.’

Wenger’s comment won’t go down well with many Gooners who want him to sign a lot of top players to improve our squad.

As for me, while I understand the boss’ reason for not being willing to sign a lot of players, the market these days will always require you to pay top money for the top players.

If we want world class players, we will have to spend big. I hope Wenger realises this so we don’t have any regret next season.
