Arsenal were reportedly present at Porto’s game against SC Braga to watch Andre Silva in action again.
Arsenal scouts are rumored to have watched the striker more than four times this season as Wenger prepares to make a move for the 21 year old.
The young striker has been one of Porto’s best performers this term and has scored seven league goals in 12 games already
According to Portuguese newspaper A Bola via Dailycannon.com, Arsenal scouts were present to run the rule over Silva last weekend.
The striker first came to Wenger’s notice in last year’s FIFA U20 competition and since then, Wenger ordered scouts to keep an eye on his development.
And obviously, the scouting department have been doing their job and had a representative present to watch the striker on Saturday again.
Although he failed to get his name on the score sheet against Braga, the striker has impressed in previous scouting trips and is believed to be a serious target of Arsenal.
We will continue to keep tabs on his development with the hope of making a move in the future but we could face a big problem when we finally decide to sign him.
The player’s contract at Porto doesn’t run out until 2021 and he currently has a €60m release clause in his contract. It is unlikely that Porto will want to sell him cheaper than the clause considering how important he is to them and it is also unlikely that Wenger would want to pay anything close to the clause to sign the striker.
And to make matters worse, we aren’t the only ones interested in the striker, Liverpool were also present on Saturday to watch the striker while Manchester United have also scouted him recently. Any of these clubs could be willing to splash big on the striker which could see us miss out on one of our top target.
