Chelsea and Arsenal are set to rival each other for the services of Andrea Belotti, according to The Sun.
Belotti has been in fine form this season, scoring 25 goals in 34 league games and this has unsurprisingly led to interest from a host of top clubs. However The Sun claims it is Chelsea and Arsenal who are leading the race to sign the striker.
Arsenal are in the market for a new centre forward and are eyeing up a move for Belotti. Alexis Sanchez is being linked with a move away from the Emirates and that could pave way for another world class forward.
Chelsea could also be in the market for a new forward and Belotti is one of those names on their wish list while Manchester United are also keen on the striker but their first choice remains Atletico Madrid’s Antoinne Greizmann.
Arsenal will have to do a lot to sign Belotti. Aside from fighting off competition from rival clubs, we will have to spend big as the striker has a €100m release clause for foreign clubs which his club has warned must be activated.
History doesn’t bode well for Arsenal as Wenger has never spent that much on a player. We will have to wait to see if he is now willing to spend big but one thing is certain, something must change this summer.
