Arsenal are determined not to sell Sanchez to a Premier League rival, despite the forward angling for a move to Manchester City.
Apparently, Wenger is resigned to losing the Chilean and is already looking forward to next season without him. The boss had identified Monaco’s Thomas Lemar as the man to replace Sanchez and is pushing to sign the French star despite Monaco’s reluctance to sell.
Reports last week suggested Manchester City were confident of signing Sanchez in a £50m deal this summer but the Daily Star has now revealed that Wenger will not allow the Chilean join any other English club.
Instead, Arsenal are waiting for Paris Saint Germain and Bayern Munich to firm up their interest in the striker.
PSG could pay Sanchez the £400,000 a week wages he is demanding and Wenger would be happy to see him join the French club.
Bayern have already ruled themselves out of a deal, suggesting the Chilean is too expensive but club chiefs are hoping they renew their interest before the transfer window ends.
Should Arsenal fail to find an ideal buyer, Wenger would make sure Sanchez see out the rest of his contract rather than let him join another Premier League club.
Separate reports are claiming City or Chelsea will have to pay £80m to sign Sanchez as that is the only fee that would tempt Wenger into selling to a rival club.
Obviously, none of them will be crazy to pay that much for a player who has one year left in his contract and is already 28, even though he is Alexis.
