Arsenal are reportedly willing to pay Marco Asensio’s release clause, as Wenger steps up his search for a new winger. However, the player may end up using our interest to earn a big pay cheque at the Bernabeu.

The Gunners have been working on a deal to sign Thomas Lemar all summer but Monaco are reluctant to let their star man leave. With just few weeks left in the transfer window, Wenger has begun looking at other targets and Asensio features high on his wish list.

According to Diario Gol via the Daily Cannon Arsenal have stepped up its pursuit of Asensio and are prepared to pay the £72m release clause in his contract.

However, Asensio is set to use the interest to get a better contract at Real Madrid and has demanded an emergency meeting with Madrid chiefs.

The player now feels the serious interest from Arsenal means he deserves a better contract at Real.

Apparently, Asensio has no interest in leaving Madrid but just like every other player, he wants to use this to get more money. The winger who made 23 league appearances for Madrid last term and is regarded as one of Spain’s brightest talents now wants his club to appreciate his talent more.

He is seen as the heir to Cristiano Ronaldo at Madrid and the Spaniards will not want to sell him. He is now going to use Arsenal’s Interest as a leverage to get a better deal.
