Arsene Wenger is reportedly keen on bolstering his side in the January transfer window for the second half of the 2015/2016 season.
Arsenal are ready to offer a new deal to winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Football Insider sources claim the Gunners are keen to open contract talks with the speedster in the coming weeks that would see him sign a new long term deal.
The Gunners are ready to begin negotiations with the England international and have a deal in place before the summer when he would have just two years on his current contract.
The news of a new deal for Chamberlain which would come with a considerable rise on his current £52,000-a-week deal has been met with a few surprises due to his uninspiring performances of late.
The winger who has mainly been on the fringes of the first team despite the injuries suffered by Alexis Sanchez and Danny Welbeck has so far featured 26 matches in all competitions this season, he has manged to score just one goal and registered a single assist, a poor return for a player who basically features from the flanks. The winger also failed to score a single Premier league goal all through 2015 and has since fallen behind the impressive Joel Campbell in the pecking order.
But manager Arsene Wenger is confident the player will improve and wants the 22-year-old to continue to develop and progress at the Emirates as he has no intention of letting him leave.
