Arsenal are likely to have a new look midfield when the 2016/2017 Premier League season kicks off in August, according to reports.
Wenger has reportedly identified the midfield as a key position where he needs to strengthen and has identified three players who would be leaving the Emirates and two who would be coming in.
Leaving the Emirates this summer are going to be the club’s veteran midfielders Mikel Arteta, Tomas Rosicky and Mathieu Flamini, according to the Telegraph.
According to the same report, Wenger has identified Granit Xhaka as the man to strengthen his midfield while club youngster Gideon Zelalem who is currently on loan at Glasgow Rangers is expected to play a major role at the club next season.
Jack Wilshere who has been out injured for majority of the season is expected to be given his chance in the coming weeks.
However the English man could find life at the Emirates a bit difficult next season as Wenger is prepared to bring in two young midfielders next term.
Wenger reportedly met with Xhaka’s representative and has indicated his willingness to meet the players £35m valuation along with a salary package worth as much as £120,000 a week.
Zelalem who is also a centre midfielder has also been impressive since joining Rangers on loan and would be given the chance to establish himself in the first team next season like Alex Iwobi did.
