Arsenal have received a massive boost in its attempt to sign Monaco defender Marcel Tisserand, according to reports.
Wenger reportedly wants to sign the versatile defender before the transfer window closes on Tuesday and has already made enquiries about the availability of the 23 year old.
La Liga side Espanyol were believed to be Arsenal’s rival for the defender’s signature but Wenger has received a major boost as the Spanish side have pulled out of the race, according to the Daily Star.
It is claimed the defender wants to secure a move to the Emirates, making Arsenal favourites to sign him. He would be available on a cheap as it is claimed Monaco are willing to accept a fee of £4.3m.
This will come as a big boost to Arsene Wenger who had been hoping to sign a centre back all summer. The club have been in talks with Valencia as regards signing Shkodran Mustafi but the Spanish club are playing hard-ball in negotiations.
Wenger has always stated he is interested in signing an experienced centre back, although Tisserand may not be experienced but the defender is highly rated and has the potential to develop into a very quality fullback for the club.
