Wenger Not Done This January As Report Claims Boss Is Preparing To Complete Two More Signings

Arsene Wenger is reportedly keen on bolstering his side in the January transfer window for the second half of the 2015/2016 season.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is ready to make a double bid for Bayer Leverkusen’s Lars Bender and Granit Xhaka of Borussia Monchengladbach.

Despite the arrival of Mohamed Elneny, the expected departures of midfield trio Mikel Arteta, Mathieu Flamini and Thomas Rosicky when their contracts come to an end in June will leave the Gunners very thin in midfield and the boss is understandably prioritising the acquisition of midfielders capable of filling their boots.

The midfield duo who have been linked with the Gunners in the past were regularly monitored by scouts from North London as they put in impressive performances both in the German Bundesliga and in the Champions league.

According to the Daily Telegraph via The Metro, Arsenal are closing in on both midfielders in deals worth to be around £54million.

Wenger missed out on both his summer defensive targets last summer with Morgan Schneiderlin joining rivals Manchester United and Leverkusen refusing to sell Bender-a stance they have since decided to change further claims the aforementioned paper.

Xhaka, who is the more attacking midfielder, is another player now available following his dissatisfaction with Monchengladbach’s disappointing performance in Europe’s premier competition where they finished bottom of the group. The Swiss man is believed to be seeking a move to a bigger club.

Their arrival would surely make the competition for places in the Gunners midfield fierce, leaving Wenger with a healthy selection headache.
