Arsenal have joined the race to sign Real Madrid midfielder Marcos Llorente, according to reports.
The holding midfielder spent last season on loan at Alaves, where he impressed and gave a good account of himself. His performances last season didn’t go unnoticed and has placed him on the radar of some top clubs, including Arsenal.
Chelsea were recently linked with the 22 year old midfielder but it is Arsenal who are now being credited with the latest interest for the Spaniard.
According to Spanish publication AS via The Mirror, Real Madrid are open to selling Llorente and this has alerted Wenger who is a big fan of the midfielder.
Wenger who is believed to be in the market for a new centre midfielder is prepared to make a move for Llorente but could face competition from Sevilla and Atletico Madrid.
The high competition for places at the Bernabeu means Llorente would struggle to play regularly for Madrid and Zidane is prepared to sell him to fund the purchase of the next galatico.
Llorente has made just two league appearances for Madrid since making his debut in 2015. He featured 32 times for Alaves last season and is yet to score a senior career goal.
