Arsene Wenger believes Arsenal are better placed to win the league title this season compared to previous years.
The Gunners are currently experiencing a fine start to a season and we are looking like we could finally end our 12 year wait for a league title.
What has been even more impressive about our superb form is the team’s doggedness. We have come from behind to either earn a victory or claim a draw on six occasions this season in all competitions and Wenger believes it’s a sign that we can now cope with the pressure of winning titles.
Realistically speaking, in previous seasons, we weren’t this strong enough to get something out of games that we had fallen behind and Wenger believes it is our strong mentality which is helping us come from behind to get something out of those games this season.
“I believe that the players are better able to handle the pressure,” Wenger is quoted as saying by ESPN. “It’s the sixth time that we are down in the game and come back [to draw] or win since the start of the season.
“That’s not a coincidence. It doesn’t happen just because you say, ‘Come on, you have to keep fighting.’ That means there is something in the team that is quite strong, but after that we have to keep the spirit.
“The spirit as well is quite fragile you know, we have to keep the energy in the side, the team energy in the side, and everybody has to take care of that.”
Obviously, we have a stronger squad this season and the change in mentality has placed us in a good position to challenge for the league title this year.
Scaling through the month of November unscathed was the first sign that a lot has changed at the Emirates and maybe we could just go on and win the league at the end of the season.
But this is not the first time Arsenal have raised Gooners hope, we were touted as favorites to win the league last year until February when we began to fall apart.
For that reason, i’ll prefer to remain patient and then reassess our chances of winning the league much later in the season but I’m hoping this season will be different from last.
