Arsene Wenger has backed youngster Krystian Bielik to become a great player for us.
In the summer, Wenger spoke of his intention to keep the young defender with the first team this season. he was earmarked to become one of the club’s centre backs this term but have found first team opportunities difficult to come by.
Wenger has now admitted we haven’t seen the player in action so far because he is not ready for the first team this season.
The boss has now revealed he will address the youngsters future in January, hinting that he could be set for a loan move away from the Emirates in order to continue his development.
“The plan with him is to continue his development,” the Arsenal boss said.
“He works with us a lot, with the first team.
“He has developed very well and for me he has all the attributes to be a great player.
“Now, he is not ready experience wise to play in our team, so hopefully I will consider the situation at the end of December to see if he can go out somewhere or whether we’ll keep him here until the end of the season.”
Bielik has made just two first team appearances since he joined us in 2015 but has featured more for the youth team. He was one of the best youngsters in our academy last season and was tipped to make the big step to the first team this season.
However, that didn’t manage to happen and one can’t really blame the youngster. The signing of Shkodran Mustafi and Rob Holding has increased the competition for places in the first team which in turn reduced the defender’s chances of breaking into the first team.
A loan move will give him the chance to play regular first team football and also face tougher oppositions that the U21 league will offer him.
