Arsene Wenger took a swipe at those criticizing his team after the 2-0 victory over Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday, via the Metro.
Wenger has been under immense pressure in recent weeks as his side was knocked out of the Champions League and FA cup within the past two weeks.
Some pundits have claimed the team lacked leaders and Wenger should be held responsible for that as it is due to his poor transfer policy the club has struggled; while fans have also called out the French man to step down from his role as the boss and the 66 year old has revealed he isn’t happy with what fans and pundits have been saying regarding his team.
“I was pleased with how well they responded,’ said Wenger.
‘It was a very significant win for us and a mental test. I like this group, I like the mental attitude, it has been questioned and that hurts me.
‘When you work with them every day, you see how much effort they put in.’
Wenger will be hoping the team continue to show the effort they did against Everton in the remaining games of the season as the club tries to stage a late charge in the title race.
Arsenal currently sit 11 points behind league leaders Leicester City with seven games to go and a game in hand. The task to close the gap looks tough but not impossible and we can only believe in the squad.
