Arsene Wenger is reportedly keen on bolstering his side in the January transfer window for the
second half of the 2015/2016 season.
Arsenal are in search of central midfielders to replace the injured starters and the aging substitutes, and have decided to roll back the years to sign one of their own, former youth prospect Havard Nordtveit from Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach.
Nordtveit who was at Arsenal’s academy between 2007 and 2010 before moving to Monchengladbach in January 2011 did not make a competitive appearance for the first team, but has gone on to establish himself as a key player for Monchengladbach, making 130 league appearances and is being regarded as one of the best defensive midfielders in the league.
His contract is due to expire at the end of the season, and a number of clubs including Borussia Dortmund, Everton and Leicester City have already started showing interest, with view of getting him for free when his contract expires.
Arsenal have now joined the race and would be looking to bring him back to the Emirates as soon as possible. It’s not clear for now whether it would be in January or the summer.
