If reports making the rounds are anything to go by, Arsenal fans could welcome back to the Emirates Stadium, a former fan favourite who left the club to join a bitter Premier League rival.

Arsenal could reportedly do a deal to re-sign Bacary Sagna, the Express claim.

The reports claim Arsene Wenger has targeted the Frenchman as an emergency right-back if Hector Bellerin leaves for Barcelona.

Even if the Spaniard doesn’t quit the Emirates, Wenger may be temped to swoop for Sagna to provide experience cover and competition for Bellerin. That is according to the Daily Star Sunday – although they claim Crystal Palace, Newcastle and Southampton are all more realistic destinations for the Frenchman.

Sagna will become a free agent when he is released by Manchester City at the end of the month, and he reports claim he will consider a move for Arsenal priority ahead of Crystal Palace, Newcastle and Southampton.

Although, other reports claim Sagna may reject Arsenal for more assured playing time as well as for a new adventure elsewhere.
