Arsenal have been boosted in the race to sign Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Granit Xhaka after the midfielder reiterated that moving to England is his “childhood” dream, via London24.
The midfielder has been linked with a move to the Emirates for sometime with Liverpool also interested in his services. When asked about where he would love to play football in the future, the midfielder made no hesitation in saying he’d love to move to England.
“Everybody has a childhood dream, and for me it is England,” Xhaka said.
“That doesn’t mean that I have to or would like to go there – I’m extremely happy here and everything suits me down to the ground – but you do have to take a look around and talk with the club.
“Gladbach have given me everything I wanted and this has become a second home for me.”
With serious interest coming from the Premier League as Arsenal and Liverpool are interested in the midfielder’s services, Xhaka said his future is in the hands of his current employers while saying he is not prepared to force a move away from the German club.
“I don’t know if it will become an issue,” he said. “It’s not up to me, but my club.
“My task is to focus on my football. For as long as I am here, I want to give 100%, the rest will be done by my club and my agent.
“It really isn’t the case that I desperately want to leave. Everything would really have to come together 1/8 for that to happen 3/8.”
The midfielder has drawn comparison’s with Germany veteran Bastian Schweinstiger due to his superb performances this season.
Wenger is reportedly prepared to offer as much as £37m for the 23 year old signature and when asked to talk about his transfer fee, Xhaka said:
“I’ll leave it up to others to judge if I’m really worth between 30 and 50 million. I don’t know.”
Xhaka has scored three goals in 18 bundesliga appearances for Monchegladbach this season.
