Arsene Weger has urged out of favour star Kieran Gibbs not to agitate for a move out of the Emirates in order to make the England squad that will be traveling to France for the European Championships in the summer.
According to the Daily Express, the Gunners boss made a pre-emptive strike at the left back who is currently finding it difficult to displace Nacho Monreal from the Gunners first team.
Gibbs’ teammate, Mathieu Debuchy is currently angling for a move away from the Emirates for regular playing time while reports surfaced last week that Chelsea and England centre back Gary Cahill is interested in leaving Stamford bridge over fears he would lose his place in the England squad and Wenger has urged Gibbs that working hard in the club is the best way to succeed with his country, instead of angling for a move.
Wenger said: “He went through a period that was difficult for him but now he is back with full power and commitment and he is very fit.
“There is competition and I understand what you say but he will get games and he is a quality player.
“Players have that target of the European Championships but the first and the most important one is the club and the achievement of the club. To be at the European Championships is always a consequence of what you have done at the club.”
