Besiktas are interested in out of favor Arsenal defender Mathieu Debuchy, according to reports
The French international is expected to leave the Emirates in the coming days as Wenger steps up his efforts to clear out the unwanted players in the squad.
Debuchy featured just once for Arsenal last season and is unlikely to feature for the club again as he is not in the manager’s plans, although he hasn’t been for a long time.
Wenger do not want players like Debuchy hanging around the club and is determined to ship them out before the transfer window closes.
According to Turkish newspaper Alanya via the Daily Cannon, Besiktas could make a move for Debuchy.
The Turkish champions lost their right back to an injury recently and may have to look outside for cover.
The report claims £2.3m will be enough to take the defender from Arsenal and I think that would be great business for the Gunners if it happens.
Debuchy has become a liability in recent years and I wasn’t expecting Arsenal to get a penny from his departure. We struggled to find a club to take him on loan last season and now a club willing to pay to take him off our hands is great business.
It will be great for Arsenal and the defender to put an end to an unsuccessful union, which never looked like it was going to work out since he joined us in 2014.
