Arsenal are preparing a January bid for Germany playmaker Julian Draxler, according to The Express.

Draxler was a target of Arsenal in the last transfer window and Wenger reportedly offered up to £50m for the midfielder but Wolfsburg didn’t want to sell him at any price.

Juventus and Paris Saint Germain were other clubs interested in the player in the summer but none were able to convince his club into selling.

Wolfsburg’s decision not to allow him leave didn’t go down well him and he publicly declared his desire to leave in a bid to force a move but that still didn’t change the club’s mind and they ended up keeping him against his wishes.

Draxler’s actions in the last few month has angered Wolfsburg and reports claim they are now prepared listen to offers from £30m for the winger in the winter transfer window.

And Wenger will now make a bid for the playmaker in the new year. The French man is keen to challenge for the Premier League title this season and the Express claims he believes Draxler will be a solid addition to his squad in the new year.

The report also suggests Draxler’s signing will send a statement of intent to Premier League rivals and also convince Ozil and Sanchez – who Wenger is looking to tie down to new contracts of the club’s ambitions to sign quality players.

Prior to this season, Draxler has shown he is one of Germany’s most talented players and if that is to go by, he will definitely be a quality addition to our squad.

However, I have doubts about his character because of his actions in recent months. He didn’t handle the summer interest in his services well and will have to work on his character if he wants to become a top player.
