Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez is desperate to join Arsenal this summer, according to the Daily Star.

Mahrez has already declared his intentions to leave Monaco but he is holding out for a move to a big club.

Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham have all been linked with the winger but it is being claimed that he wants a move to either Arsenal or Barcelona.

However, neither of his preferred clubs have made a concrete offer to sign him.

Although, Arsenal hold a stroing interest in him, Wenger only considers him an alternative to Thomas Lemar while Barcelona are yet to show any serious interest in him, with the Spanish club prioritizing other positions.

However, Roma are now preparing a £30.7m bid for Mahrez to replace Salah who joined Liverpool last month.

Although he could be tempted to join Roma, he would explore the possibility of joining Arsenal before committing himself to the Italians.

Mahrez’s move to Arsenal has been complicated by Wenger’s preference to sign Lemar and Leicester City’s demands.

Lemar is Wenger’s first choice and again Leicester are demanding around £50m for Mahrez, which is about the same fee Lemar would cost us, so the club prefers to negotiate a deal for the French man at the moment.

But with Lemar’s deal getting more complicated by each passing day due to Arsenal’s delay in reaching an agreement with Monaco, and the Ligue 1 champions selling Bakayoko to Chelsea, Wenger could be forced to turn to Mahrez as soon as possible with the winner keen to join us.

Roma are unlikely to pay up to £50m for the Algerian, meaning he could still be available when and if Wenger decides to end Lemar’s pursuit.
