After a very scary final 20 minutes, Arsene Wenger and the boys managed to pick up all 3 points away from home to the Baggies.
And although Alan Irvine’s side did put up a decent fight, going into the first 20 minutes of the game with 68% possession. Repeating pretty much the same drama in the final 20 minutes to the end of the game, and even coming as close as rattling Emi Martinez’s crossbar.
But the shine cannot be taken away from the handful of Arsenal stars who gave their best or something close to it in the game.
Here are my Arsenal player ratings for the 0-1 victory away at Westbrom.
A good game once again from the young Arsenal goalkeeper who is already getting used to being in between the sticks and seriously fancying his chance to fight for a place in the Arsenal goalkeeper pecking order.
Good forays in helping the attack in going forward. Also did his part in helping the defence. Was caught napping a few times but generally had a good game.
Had more work to do than in the midweek match against Borussia Dortmund where he was mostly quiet due to the calmness in the Germans attack. Started the game wearing the captain’s handband so you think that he could have gingered the team a little bit more when the Baggies kept raining in balls in the defence especially during the final 20 minutes.
His return to the Arsenal starting line-up was evident as he immediately got to work, breaking up plays and attacks. Not a bad game from someone who’s been out injured.
Was moved to left-back position. started off strongly but subbed off in the first half with a knee injury.
Flamini: 5.5 FOTM*
Not a very good game from the Frenchman as he was virtually unseen for most part of the game. Made Mikel Arteta’s absence clear enough for everyone to see.
Worked hard but things still don’t look natural for him yet. Taking too many touches and hasn’t rediscovered his shooting boots.
Started on the left but had the freedom to switch positions during the game. On hand to head home the winner. Good game from the Englishman.
Another tireless performance from the Chilean but he couldn’t get things going in the final third.
Cazorla: 8 MOTM*
Easily our best player overall and although his finishing was poor once again, he produced the moment of magic to win the game with an assist for Danny.
We’ve missed his strength and presence up front and he looked surprisingly sharp for his first start in over three months. Tired eventually and was replaced but decent outing.
On for the injured Monreal and was as reliable as ever.
On for 10 minutes, and got injured. Hopefully his knee injury isn’t serious.
An unconvincing win but surely a needed and had fought for 3 points. Setting our confidence up for a midweek cracker with hugely unexpected second placed Southampton.
How would you rate this Arsenal team with their win over the Baggies?
