Arsenal took all three points against Queens Park Rangers at the Emirates on boxing day and will now proceed to take on high flying West Ham United on today as Arsene Wenger and his men continue their march in the ever busy festive fixtures.
The match against Big Sam and his men is something which many Arsenal faithfuls have tagged as one which would send a clear statement of our ambitions to still stake a claim for the title this season, should we cruise to a convincing victory against the Hammers.
The Hammers currently occupy the 5th position on the League table with 31 points, one point adrift of Arsenal at 6th position with 30 points.
West Ham United will play their second London derby in succession when the face Arsenal on Sunday, after losing 2-0 at Stamford Bridge to Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea on Boxing Day.
The Hammers have been difficult to beat at home and will hope to get a result against a Gooners side tired from their strenuous 2-1 win over QPR.
Wenger in his pre-match press conference earlier this week had given updates on his team. The Frenchman revealed that 2 Arsenal stars; Yaya Sanogo and Tomas Rosicky were set to return back to the team from injury ahead of the clash at home to QPR, (which they did) and further added that first choice centre back – Laurent Koscielny back would be fit enough to play against the Hammers, meaning that make shift centre back – Nacho Monreal will be relieved of his duties.
The Gooners would also be without Olivier Giroud, after the striker picked up a straight red for headbutting West Ham’s Nedum Onuoha.
This would mean that one extra slot has been created for an Arsenal striker from the bench to fill up in the interim.
Despite our current injury concerns and Giroud’s absence, Here is my predicted Arsenal starting line-up against West Ham.
With this starting XI, it is expected that we should cruise to a 3-1 victory against the Hammers.
