Why Arsenal Should Steal “New Kaka” From Rivals Chelsea.

Arsenal and Everton are plotting a raid at Stamford Bridge for 20 year old starlet Lucas Piazon.

Piazon is currently in his third loan spell from Chelsea at Eintracht Frankfurt and has already settled into life in Germany. After previous not so eventful loan seasons with Malaga and Vitesse Arnhem, the youngster, dubbed “the new Kaka” has started living up to his billing in a way after he scored a stunning last minute free-kick winner in a September BundesLiga game against Hamburg, further endearing him to his admirers.

Together with Zenit St Petersburg, coached by Piazon’s former coach at Chelsea, Andre-Villas Boas, both Wenger and Roberto Martinez are known to be attracted to young exciting players, hence the scramble for the Brasilian kid. Piazon moved to Chelsea in 2012, during Villa-Boass short reign at Chelsea for £7m but is yet to have the opportunity to compete for places on the first team. He has stated his desire to return to the club to claim a more permanent role, though not ruling out the other possibilities.

Piazon has not drawn comparison with former World Player of the Year, Kaka simply because they both made their big European breakthrough moves from Sao Paolo, both due to a recognizable similarity between their movements and general play.

Wenger will be rightly encouraged to make the move considering Mourinho’s fame for not being overly in love with keeping players with more guile than steel. With the huge list of Chelsea players on loan as long as the current Chelsea squad, Mou may feel the need to cut down on the wage bill when the loanees return next season, when Wenger will be looking to make an approach for Piazon.

Whether the Portuguese maverick will be inclined to sell to a rival, moreso Wenger, will probably be the biggest obstacle to any deal happening. He refused letting us get 28 year old Demba ba for just 12 months last season, who says he will now let us have someone with a potential as bright as that of Piazon’s for who knows how long? That said, there doesn’t appear to be any space for the player in the team even next season considering his fellow Brasilians Oscar and Willian who play in similar attacking roles are not certified starters.

It may come down to doubling the numbers.

Chelsea, as much as they spend, have been quite astute in recovering their expenditure during sales. They made gigantic profits from the sales of David Luiz and Juan Mata, taking advantage of the their quality and the buying club’s readiness to splash. If we showed a real desire to sign Piazon, Abramovich wouldn’t mind letting him go for the right price which could be inflated to as much as £15m – another thing sure not to please Wenger.

But in reconciliation with what the player has been billed to become, you can only assume that figure to be worth paying. Ronaldo, who Wenger rues he missed, was signed for just about the same fee by United over 8 years ago and has turned out to be extra terrestrial, who is now supposedly worth a billion pounds. In the years to come, when Piazon metamorphosizes into that class of player, £915m won’t get you a run-of-the-mill second choice goalkeeper.
