Lucas Perez is prepared to join Newcastle if they can agree a fee with Arsenal, according to reports.
The striker is desperate to leave the Emirates this summer and a return to La Liga was on the cards when Deportivo La Coruna made a bid to sign him.
However, Deportivo’s offer didn’t appeal to Arsenal which gave Newcastle the chance to join the race.
According to Chronicle via Football Insider, Perez is desperate to put an end to his frustrating spell at Arsenal and will be happy to join Newcastle.
However, the Magpies will have to agree a fee with Arsenal, who want to recoup majority of the £17m paid to sign him last summer
The report claims Newcastle will prefer a loan move, something that Arsenal do not fancy at the moment. The Gunners are only interested in signing the striker and have placed a £13.4m valuation on him.
Deportivo’s bid is reportedly worth £9m which is some way short of Arsenal’s valuation but it is a lot better than the loan offer Newcastle are considering.
Arsenal are yet to respond to Deportivo’s bid and ideally will still want to wait a little longer to see if other offers will come in for the striker.
Newcastle will have to come up with a much improved bid if they really want to sign Perez because I don’t think Wenger will sanction a loan move.
