“With Every Passing Day, I Prefer The EPL” A Come And Get Me Plea From Arsenal Target?

There is a lot more buzz to a possible move to Arsenal for Real Madrid Champions League and Club World Cup, Sergio Ramos, as the defender has dropped a credible hint that could see us snap him up soon.

Per the Express, Ramos, who has been rumoured as a prime target for Premier League clubs, mainly Arsenal, has made a declaration of admiration for the Premier League, a means perhaps to get to the consciousness of his suitors about his availability.

“The only thing I will say is that, with every passing day, I prefer the English Premier League”   the 28-year old is quoted as saying.

It’s actually something of a surprise that Madrid are reportedly seeking to let go of one of their most experienced players – this is his 11th season at the Bernabeu since moving from Sevilla in 2004 for £20m – but our current need of a top class defender won’t be bothered about what their reasons may be as he has shown over the past couple of months that he’s still got an awful lot to give in his career. Crucial goals in the Semi-finals and Finals of two major competitions for Madrid saw them land iconic trophies within the last calendar year, while he continues to be a leader together with Casillas in defence.

Wenger is in sure need of such leadership attributes in his own team, especially in defence where there have been few blows leveled on Per Mertesacker as not being vocal enough. The BFG has been at the center of much criticism over his apparent reluctance to challenge for headers, leading to the concession of advantages in one game to many, especially against Anderlecht and Liverpool more recently.

With his usual partner Koscielny absent, the now retired German International has found it uneasy being accustomed with the ever-changing partnership he’s had to be involved with Debuchy, Monreal or Calum Chambers, none of whom are proven center backs.

Ramos’s comments exude the kind of come-and-get-me-pleas that is not so common in the footballing world, especially with more clubs now having the capability to steal a deal irrespective of how far another may have gone. His elite abilities will have implications on the possibility that we may not be alone in making a move for him. A few of our rivals may be snooping around too and unless a decisive move is made by the club, he will inevitably go to some other who can offer the big package.

It was reported a week ago that Arsene had made contact with his agent and brother, Rene, and knowing Wenger’s success rate at personal negotiations with players or agents – Ozil, Alexis – maybe there are good reasons to be hopeful.
