Arsenal are interested in signing Porto winger Yacine Brahimi, according to reports.

According to Portuguese newspaper A Bola via Goal, Brahimi is attracting interest from a lot of clubs, following his impressive performances for FC Porto this season.

Arsenal and Manchester United are believed to be among the clubs interested in the winger.

West Ham, Monaco, Atletico Madrid and Juventus have also sent scouts to watch him in recent weeks.

The report claims a total of 11 clubs watched the Algeria international in Porto’s Champions League group games this season and most recently their last game against Leicester City.

Should the winger continue to impress, clubs could begin to firm up their interest in his services. But he is unlikely to come cheap as he still has about three years left in his current contract which has a release clause of €60m.

FC Porto are known for squeezing out the highest fee they can get from clubs interested in their best players and i’m sure they will hold out for the winger’s release clause to be activated. The amount of interest in the player will put Porto in a strong position when negotiating with interested parties.

For Arsenal’s case. We have been linked with a lot of wingers in recent weeks but I do not think Wenger would be looking to sign one anytime soon considering the boss is happy with his current squad.

On the other hand, it could be that Wenger is in search of a left winger to replace Alexis Sanchez whom he shifted to the centre forward position at the beginning of the season and if that is the case, Brahimi will be a perfect signing.

The winger has scored 16 goals in 68 appearances since he joined Porto in 2014.
