Arsenal have lined-up Italian and Juventus tough tackling centre-back for a move in the summer transfer window, according to reports.

Among the top six Premier League clubs, the stats of Arsenal defence is terrible at best and the North London Club are already on the look out for reinforcements. The Gunners have conceded more goals than even Burnley who sits in seventh position on the Premier League log.

Rugani rejoined Juventus in the summer of 2016 from Empoli and he was highly rated. However, the 23-year-old has seen his stock dropped as he has been sparingly used by the Old Lady.

He watched from the sidelines as Tottenham came from behind to draw with Juventus 2-2 in their Champions League clash last week but Arsene Wenger has the player high in his transfer wishlist for next summer.

According to the Sun, the player’s agent Davide Torchia has revealed that Arsenal are heavily linked with a move for the player.

“Rugani it’s an international player. He could play in any league. So also in U.K. He’s young. Elegant in the way of playing. I know that various top european top club follow him.

“Some are English. Arsenal? In the past, some seasons ago, we spoke with them. At the moment there are no official contact with them.”

He added: “He is happy at Juventus. He does not want to leave Torino. And he hopes to play continuously.

“However, if they were to receive a big offert for him, maybe he could be sold.”

Arsenal have made the signing of a defensive midfielder and a centre-back their top priority else they won’t be able to compete with the likes of Man United and Man City who have conceded up to 16 goals less.

Mertesacker is due to retire at the end of the season but should they sign Rugani, he is expected to slot into the first team of the Gunners.’

The star is currently valued at £18.00m according to transfermarkt but Arsenal may have to spend times three of that amount to sign him.
